Daniella Strasfogel is a violinist, performer, music mediator and theater maker in Berlin. Through her years of development as an artist, she has consistently sought to deepen her understanding of her body as a vessel for interpretation, through the instrument and the voice as well as through physicality of movement and gesture.
Born and raised in New York City, she studied violin in the USA (Purchase College Conservatory of Music, Cleveland Institute of Music) and Germany (Universität der Künste Berlin).
She is a founding member of the Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop Berlin and was artistic director of the ensemble from 2010-2015. In this position she created new formats for musical performance and collaborated with artistic partners (FC Bergman, Susanne Kennedy, Sasha Waltz, Ladislav Zajac, Sarah Nemtsov, etc.) She has created staged concert programs for festivals (Sommerlichen Musiktage Hitzacker, Thüringer Bachwochen, Sydney Festival, etc.) and performance spaces (Radialsystem V Berlin, Villa Elizabeth Berlin, Kampnagel Hamburg, HELLERAU Dresden etc.), led audience discussions and worked with amateur musicians and students.
She founded the production company LOUDsoft in 2018 with the aim of creating multidimensional musical experiences for and with families, young people and amateur musicians.
Daniella has been teaching violin for many years. In her teaching, she works with adults, teenagers and children, ranging from beginners to preparation for the conservatory entrance exams.
In the 2023-2024 season, she will be a Hausregisseurin (director) at tjg.theater junge generation in Dresden, creating new works for and with young people from 2 - 20 years old.
